I was told a code could not be found for my key. What do I do now?

If you have provided pictures of your key to be cut and shipped via Snap Key and you were told no code was found for your key that usually means;

A.) Your key is too worn down that it could not be decoded. This is common with older model vehicles that have bladed keys for the ignition. The friction from the key and ignition cylinder hardware create wear and tear on each other. Over years of use the key will slowly thin out to the point where it no longer fits into the ranges it should for the code series it is supposed to be in.

B.) Your vehicle has been re-keyed. Not very common, but occasionally a dealership or locksmith will have changed a vehicles original code and locks to fit a code they generated themselves. Usually when all keys are lost or a car break in occurs are vehicles rekeyed.

What do you do in these situations? Your best option is to contact our customer service team and request a van service from us. If we have an Account Manager in your area they can come to you and trace cut the key and program it all in one trip.

Customer service: 877-445-3953 Monday-Friday 8:30 - 5:00 PM EST

If you are unable to schedule a van service then your other options are to contact a different local automotive locksmith or to take your key to a local dealership where they can trace-cut keys.
