1996 Mercury Sable, 1997 Mercury Mountaineer, 1997 Mercury Tracer Remote Programming Instructions

1. Open the vehicle driver's door and cycle the power door lock/unlock switch on the driver's door panel TWICE, going from LOCK to UNLOCK.
2. Sit in the driver's seat and insert the key into ignition.
3. Turn the key in ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, ending in the run position. your power locks should automatically cycle indicating successful entry into programming mode. At this time, all previously stored remotes are erased from memory and will need to be programmed.
4. Within 20 seconds press any button on the first remote to be programmed. Locks will cycle to confirm programming.
5. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the second remote (up to 4 may be programmed). Do this for every remote you want to use on the vehicle, including any of your old remotes.
6. Turn ignition to OFF position. Locks will cycle to indicate exit from programming mode.
7. Exit vehicle, close door, test remote(s) for functionality.
