1999 - 2016 Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Buick, Saturn, Pontiac Transponder Key Programming Instructions (Select Models: See Attached List)

Adding GM Basic Transponder Keys Must Have One Working Key (Manual Procedure) Up to 2016 Models 

  1. Insert a master/working key and switch the ignition on.
  2. Wait for the security/immobilizer light to go out. Switch ignition off and remove the key.
  3. Quickly insert an unprogrammed key and switch the ignition on.
  4. Wait for the security/immobilizer light to go out. Switch ignition off and remove the key.
  5. The key is now programmed.

 

Adding GM Basic Transponder Keys All Keys Lost (Manual Procedure) Up to 2016 Models

  1. Switch ignition on with an unprogrammed master key.
  2. The security/immobilizer light or a message will come on the dash.
  3. After approximately 10 minutes the security/immobilizer light or a message will go out.
  4. Switch the ignition off.
  5. Wait 5 seconds.
  6. Switch ignition back on with the same unprogrammed master key.
  7. The security/immobilizer light or a message will come on the dash.
  8. After approximately 10 minutes the security/immobilizer light or a message will go out.
  9. switch the ignition off.
  10. Wait 5 seconds.
  11. Switch ignition back on with the same unprogrammed master key.
  12. The security/immobilizer light or a message will come on the dash.
  13. After approximately 10 minutes the security/immobilizer light or a message will go out.
  14. Switch the ignition off.
  15. Wait 5 seconds.
  16. Try and start the vehicle it will now start with no light/message on the dash.
  17. The key is programmed.
