2014 - 2015 Chevrolet Impala Remote Programming Instructions

Caution: Only RKE (remote keyless entry) remotes programmed to the vehicle will work. Any remaining remotes will need to be reprogrammed at the same time new remote(s) are added. Each vehicle can have up to eight remotes matched to it.

Programming with a recognized remote (key vehicles only).

  1. Insert the original, already programmed key in the ignition and turn to the key to the on/run position.
  2. Turn the key to lock/off position, and remove the key.
  3. Insert the new key to be programmed and turn it to the on/run position within five seconds. The security light will turn off once the key has been programmed.
  4. Repeat Steps 1--3 if additional keys are to be programmed. If a key is lost or damaged, see your dealer to have a new key made.

Programming without a recognized remote (key vehicles only)

NOTE: You cannot program a new key without already having a recognized key available. Canadian regulations require that owner's see their dealer. If there are no currently recognized keys available, follow this procedure to program the 1st key. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete for the first key. The vehicle must be off and all of the keys you want to program must be with you.

  1. Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition.
  2. Turn to on/run. The security light will come on.
  3. Wait 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
  4. Turn the ignition to lock/off.
  5. Repeat steps 2--4 two more times. After the third time, turn to on/run; the key is learned and all previously known keys will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining keys can be learned by following the procedure in "Programming with a recognized key."

Programming with a recognized remote (keyless access vehicles only)

 

NOTE: A new remote can be programmed to the vehicle when there is one recognized remote. To program, the vehicle must be off and at least one currently recognized remote and all new remotes, must be with you.

  1. Place the recognized remote(s) in the cup holder.
  2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. Then insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key, counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays "Ready for remote #2, 3, 4 or 5").
  3. Place the new remote into the remote pocket. The remote pocket is located inside the center console storage area.
  4. Press the engine start/stop button. When the remote is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next remote.
  5. Remove the remote from the remote pocket and press unlock. To program additional remotes, repeat steps 3--5. When all additional remotes are programmed, press and hold the engine start/stop button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.

Programming without a recognized remote (keyless access vehicles only)

 

NOTE: If there are no currently recognized remotes available, follow this procedure to program up to eight remotes. This feature is not available in Canada. This procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must be off and all of the remotes you wish to program must be with you.

  1. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. Then insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key, counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays "Remote learn pending, please wait". 
  2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays "Press engine start button to learn" and then press the engine start/stop button. The DIC displays will again show "Remote learn pending, please wait"
  3. Repeat step 2 two additional times. After the third time, all previously known remotes will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining remotes can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show "Ready for remote #1".
  4. Place the new remote into the remote pocket. The remote pocket is inside the center console storage area.
  5. Press the engine start/stop button. When the remote is learned the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next remote
  6. Remove the remote from the remote pocket and press unlock. To program additional remotes, repeat Steps 4--6. When all additional remotes are programmed, press and hold the engine start/stop button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
